Sunday Bible Study
9:00 a.m. - Bible Study Classes
One of the most effective ways to link our lives with God and others is to grow in our understanding of our relationship with God. Through an organized Bible study program, we can advance on such a journey. At FBCSCW, you will find a Bible study that will provide the challenge you need to grow. All of the classes are taught by well trained, highly educated, concerned students of the Bible.
A variety of topics and study materials is offered to meet the individual needs of our church family. It is our prayer that you will experience an excitement as you learn more about the awesomeness of God.
The focus of the Explorers class is to encourage individuals to grow in understanding of God’s word. The class follows a seminar approach for Bible study. Occasionally the class will deal with contemporary issues facing the church. Study material is from the Bible and the class meets in the classroom in the breezeway.

This class was created for those who are still in the work force or recently retired. The group meets in Room 104 on the east side of the Christian Life Center.

Short-Term Bible Study
Throughout the year, other opportunities for Bible study occur during the week. The studies, led by church members, meet in homes or at the church. The schedule depends on the time of year and the availability of teachers.
Studies will resume in the fall. See below for examples of our spring topical studies.
Jesus Among Secular Gods by Ravi Zacharias and Vince Vitale
As belief in the secular gods of atheism, hedonism, relativism, and humanism continues to grow, it’s more important than ever for believers to be able to defend and share the claims of Christ. Of course, this clash of worldviews is nothing new. Throughout Paul’s writing in the New Testament are references to elemental forces that seek to separate believers from the love and truth of Jesus.
Not only has the Christian worldview been devalued and dismissed by modern culture, but its believers are also openly ridiculed as irrelevant. This six-session Bible study challenges the popular and trending philosophies of the day, skillfully pointing out the fallacies in their claims and presenting compelling evidence for absolute truth as found in Jesus and revealed in Scripture. Dr. Scott Williamson, facilitator.
Act Like Men by James McDonald
In many ways, our culture paints an unsavory and unseemly picture of manhood. The standard for how a man acts and conducts himself continues to be lowered. While some might see men's roles as insignificant, God tells a different story. God says that men matter, and He's appointed them to lead. Men fulfilling this role is vital to the health of our homes, churches, and society. Unfortunately, too many men follow the way of the world, instead of embracing the call of God. Instead of stepping up to their responsibility, they are stepping back.
In this six-session study, Pastor James MacDonald will challenge you to take hold of your God-given role. He will urge you to live out Paul's instruction in 1 Corinthians 16:13-14. Dr. Bob Marti, facilitator.
Deacon Training by Jim Henry
This six-week video driven series will enhance and encourage deacons to be all that scripture encourages them to be in their God-called ministry. Dr. Jim Henry was the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church, Orlando, Florida for many years and served as the President of the Southern Baptist Convention. He has a heart for people and deacons. All deacons active and not active are encouraged to attend. Dr. Kirby Kennedy, facilitator.
Detours by Tony Evans
Find hope in understanding that the sudden or seemingly endless detours in life are God's way of moving you from where you are to where He wants you to be. The biblical account of Joseph clearly demonstrates that God is at work even when life seems to be going wrong. Even today, it's easy to wonder why God would allow calamity to happen or if He's in control at all. Whether through uncontrollable circumstances or the pain of personal relationships, everyone has experienced unforeseen changes in life.
This six-week study helps believers navigate detours that may take you through trials, injustice, and even betrayal. You will be comforted and encouraged when you learn to rest in God's redemptive plan and the hope found in God's sovereign will. Carroll Yoder, facilitator.
The Quest by Beth Moore
Curiosity is hardwired in humanity. We have this innate need to question and seek after what we don’t know or understand.
In this six-session study, delve into scripture to explore how God created us to seek after Him—a God who desires to be found and known. In this lifelong quest of faith, learn to develop your intimacy with Him and embrace the adventure that comes with living a life for God. Betty O’Shields, facilitator.
